Longing, Lust and Love A poem
Three mast rose upward toward the sky
Mainsail caught the wind as boltropes stretched in pleas
The headsail unfurled and bellow its life
As afore the wheelhouse a-hold of the helm
There stood three of kind each as elegant as could be
The three captains of the sea
Longing and Lust and Love
And just beneath the bow against the figureheads underside
Like countless before that sought loves dream do abide
With gray eyes cast so hauntingly out to sea
Strapped by saltwater drenched leather for all world to see
Wind blown hair and salt sprayed flesh glistened
Past times and dreams so often forbidden
Rides with apathetic indulgence you and me
It was Longing that set me aside
I dreamed the dreams we all should hide
For the fairest of hearts I begged a hand
My thoughts were like a silent symphony
Obsessively empty words whispered only to me
My heart in its loudest voice did in silence cry
To feel the obscure want of something
The foolish games where no ones to blame
Where all things are beautiful in blue
Obsessed and choking on nothing but innocence
The iridescent sparkle in ones eyes
Serenity from afar such a tragic desire
Longing was at its best like no more roses with the rest
It was Lust that brought me here
Plain and simple from the first words shared
The first fragrance fair the touch the stare
Lost in something without deterrents
As scenes played out for the best
And we danced in pieces with the rest
We live the dark side in violent frustration
Pretty people sliding coins in the turnstiles of desolation
Sedated somewhere east of sanity so close to vanity
By tattered design where we tasted each others envy
Us in our morbid moments of apathetic indulgence
Are but a pretense to rejection as if broken glass was to crawl on
Lust was our addiction at its best with the rest
It was Love that sealed the fate of a synthetic romance
Just how many halos can an angel wear
When silence is much more than a love song
And everything we do is so perfectly perfect
Our whispers become shouts like painted memories
And just a simple touch enlightens the senses with grace
Loveliness however intoxicated is never broken by trust
Yes two hearts can beat and shimmer just as one
Each breath deeply drawn to mate as part of a whole
Temptation blessed on a solely different level then succumbs
There like fading scars to make our peace with wants and desires
And walked through our world as if we were the only ones
Love was our serenity at its best with the rest
And with apathetic indulgence you and me
We sailed through the sea
Through
Longing and Lust and Love
And now
I am captive on a sea ship
Strapped just below the figurehead
And I dont know if I will ever
Make my way back home
So would it be all right
Just for a single night
To take my manners
And what have you
And just be something so alone
Because I have longed
Closed my eyes and lusted
Challenged the tempered strength of love
And now these dreams wont leave me alone
Through misty fog I see
Crumpled in the past upon its knees
In a sound of silence without malice
Surrounded by the three
The form of me
With one last plea
For after all
One question will remain
Would I have been better off
Or just the same
As a hero, a hobo or a harlot
